Stark Museum of Art presents Home on the Range: American Stories of Art Crime by guest speaker Dr. Laura Evans

The Stark Museum of Art is thrilled to present Home on the Range: American Stories of Art Crime, a lecture and book signing event with Dr. Laura Evans. This lively lecture will be held on Saturday, September 19, from 3 to 4 p.m. Admission is free of charge. No reservations are needed to attend.

During this event, Dr. Evans will draw on her book, "The Atlas of Art Crime: Thefts, Vandalism, and Forgeries," to share vivid stories of stolen masterpieces, bold imposters and unforgettable museum mishaps. From confounding acts of vandalism to headline-grabbing thefts and cunning forgeries, the history of American art crime is packed with ambition, deception and desire.

“We are excited to present this experience as an opportunity to make art history accessible and engaging for our community,” said Kyra Hall, studio and public programs coordinator at the Stark Museum of Art. “Dr. Laura Evans brings such fascinating knowledge and expertise to these stories, giving audiences a chance to connect with art in an entertaining way. We are eager to invite the community to discover the surprising, often outrageous world of art crime in America."

Dr. Evans is a professor and art crime historian who teaches, writes and tells stories about art crime, art interpretation and art museums. She was inspired to write "The Atlas of Art Crime" from her experience lecturing globally on the topic. Through 75 tales of mystery, scandal and misadventure, her book traces the global, modern history of art crime. A limited number of books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

Home on the Range: American Stories of Art Crime will be held in the Walter G. Riedel III Education Center at the Stark Museum of Art.
