Museum Rules:
To help ensure the safety and preservation of the art, we ask that you follow three basic rules during your visit to the museum:
- Do not touch the art. Please keep a two-foot distance from all art, including pedestals, walls and outdoor sculptures.
- No food or drink in the galleries. Guests are permitted to eat and drink outdoors. Food and drink are permitted in the museum’s lobby during special events only.
- We strongly recommend checking your bag in a complimentary locker in our lobby. Alternatively, wear your bag on the front of your body, carry it or place it in a stroller. Bags larger than 11” x 5” x 14” must be stored. This rule is to prevent guests’ bags from accidentally bumping into art when moving through the galleries.
Restricted Items:
Must be stored in a free locker:
- Wrapped packages
- Umbrellas
- Food or drink
- Luggage
- Bags larger than 11” x 5” x 14”
- Tripods, bipods, selfie sticks
- Camera attachments
- Art-making materials except pencil and sketchbook
Not allowed anywhere in the museum:
- Flowers*
- Pets**
- Articles of clothing that may be taken as profane, vulgar, racist, sexist or sexually suggestive
- Firearms or weapons
- Outside works of art
*Florist-treated, approved flowers are welcome for special events.
**Service animals are allowed and welcome anywhere in the museum.
Restricted Behavior
We encourage guests to explore the museum, positively engage with art and express themselves appropriately. For the safety and preservation of the art and our guests, we do not allow the following:
- Children ages 16 and under unaccompanied by an adult
- Piggyback or shoulder rides
- Smoking or vaping
- Running or horseplay
- Sketching with materials other than pencil and sketchbook
The Stark Museum of Art reserves the right to refuse or revoke the admission of any visitor whose conduct violates these guidelines.
